Healthy?
What Are You Bananas?!

-Written and Photographed By Coleen Lou

I am going to share my secret recipe for a delicious and healthy dessert or fast meal…It truly could be either! My children, their friends and I all love these chocolate, peanut butter bananas. Not only do we love them, but they are also healthy, cheap and require no cooking. Does it get better than that? But please do not blame me if the enitre neighborhood starts showing up at your door!

They are so simple to prepare, even a young child can make them…. and they will love you for them. In addition, both peanut butter and bananas are high in tryptophan, so they are excellent choices if you are stressed or depressed! So without further delay here it is:

Ingredients:

· ½ banana cut in ½ again lengthwise-(A fresh fruit that is a great source of tryptophan, potassium and fiber)

· 1-2 tablespoons reduced-fat crunchy peanut butter- (Great source of tryptophan, Niacin, B-6 and protein)

· ¼ - ½ cup fat-free, sugar-free Jell-O instant chocolate or white chocolate pudding, prepared according to the package directions. (First of all you get your chocolate fix…need I say more? But it is also fat-free and sugar-free.  Since it is made with milk, you get a calcium rich dairy product in your diet too!)

· 2 cups 1% or fat free milk (Use this to make instant pudding and also a great source of tryptophan.)

· Optional- 3-4 tablespoons of spray can fat-free whipped topping. I use my local store brand and it tastes great- (Just for fun and not necessary, but it is fat-free and 2 tablespoons is only 10 calories and 1 gram of carbs!)

Preparation Directions:

· Cut the banana lengthwise and lay on a plate.

· Spread peanut butter over the banana.

· Place chocolate pudding on top of the peanut butter.

· Top with Fat-free whipped topping.

Now wasn't that easy?....Eat up, be healthy and enjoy!
